Shihan Tom Hould his training in the martial arts in 1980 in American Karate under Sensei Ken Weintraub. In 1982 a job promotion sent him to Bakersfield, CA where he began studying Shotokan Karate at Way of Japan Martial Arts. He earned a Brown Belt at Way of Japan. In 1984 Tom returned to Monrovia California and began training once again under Sensei Ken Weintraub.
In July of 1990 Shihan Tom Hould took over the studio from Sensei Ken Weintraub. With an active count of 14 students. In 2008 Tom was promoted to 7th Degree Black Belt in American Karate.
Shihan Tom Hould is also very active in the community. He is the current president of the Monrovia Rotary club. He is very active in the Rotary clubs teen leadership camp where 200 eighth-graders participate in a three-day leadership camp. Also the Rotary youth leadership awards program where 300 high school juniors participate in 3 days of labs designed to teach them goal setting, leadership problem-solving and team work.
